TSC and You: 6 Tips for Using Stock Photos with Your Brand
Nowadays, we need photos for everything. Instagram, websites, email newsletters, blog posts, media kits…the list goes on (and on).
Capturing or finding original images for a new post on Instagram every single day is daunting in itself, but add in content for all of your other platforms and marketing tools while also ensuring that it’s all on brand? SIX TIPS FOR USING STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY FOR YOUR BRAND!
1. Personalize your TSC downloads
Add your logos, a page from your website, or custom text with platforms like Canva or Photoshop. Want to know how? Watch this video tutorial!
2. Choose the right photos for your brand
We may have hundreds upon hundreds of photos (and we’re adding more all the time), but that doesn’t mean that you have to use every image available.
Focus on your brand colours, your messaging and the types of content that will help you tell your brand’s story, and then narrow it down by considering details like orientation (landscape vs portrait), and amount of negative space (do you want a busier image or one that will help your feed or website “breathe”?).
3. There can be too much of a good thing *sigh*
We love us some TSC, but to keep your brand authentic and unique (like you!) it’s important to create content that is brand-specific by incorporating photos from professional custom brand photoshoots as well as from your own phone or camera (edited, of course!! *hint, try Snapseed or VSCO).
4. Crop it like it’s hot (see what we did there?)
TSC images are all high resolution and can be cropped to give you even more control of the images and how you implement them into your social media feeds, websites, and email newsletters.
5. Organization is cool
When you download your TSC images, do a few things to keep your Type A friends at TSC happy:
Save them to a secure location like an external hard drive.
Create folders for all of your brand images, so you can keep track of specific sets of photos and locate them quickly.
Rename the photos. This is especially important when you’re uploading them to your website, as it will help boost SEO.
Use a social media scheduling tool like later.com so you can see how photos will look with your feed before you post. We swear by this!
6. Consistency is King (or should we say, Queen!)
We want to see the same brand story from you whether it’s on your website, social media accounts, or in that e-newsletter (you know what we’re talking about, these are examples of some of your ‘brand touchpoints’).
Formatting may change, but using consistent imagery across platforms is super important in achieving this, so when you post a TSC photo on Instagram, post that bad boy on Facebook too!
